A Quick Money Fix: Proven Ways to Get Cash in Your Pocket Today
This morning Trav and I were sitting on the couch enjoying our morning coffee and watching the news. One of the many reasons I love him so much is that he always has a cup of coffee ready and waiting for me in the morning. We got to talking about the recent government shut down…
Don’t worry, this isn’t a political post.
This is a post on how to make quick cash when you need it most. With the recent government shut downs, many people have no source if income. WHAM, just like that, no income.
Can you imagine having a family, bills, and responsibilities and having your income completely cut off?
I certainly do. The very weekend Cash’s dad and I split up, I was in a similar situation. I had just completed my personal training certification, had one potential client, a 1 year old, and $3,000+ worth of bills. It’s not rocket science to know that I was dirt broke and up shit’s creek. With $500 to my name and bills due in 30 days, I had to think fast. Rather, I needed money fast.
Here are 5 proven ways to make fast cash
And you don’t have to sell your soul to make it.
First, you need to stop stressing and organize your thoughts. I love making lists to organize all my thoughts, to-dos, and keep me sane. I used to write lists on paper but there was one problem. You guessed it: I would always lose the piece of paper. So I started using this free app called wunderlist which is great because I can make separate lists, check things off, and it syncs with all my devices.
Now that you’re organized and not stressed, take a look at these money makers. I’ve organized them by quick fixes and then by things that take a little more time. Remember, time is money. So the more time you have, the more money you’ll make. I started off with the quick fixes so I could get my bills paid. Once I bought myself some extra time, I started working on things that took more time. Figure out what works best for you and get on it. If you need to work early mornings, late nights, or even weekends, do all that you can to make ends meet. Times may be rough now but they don’t have to last forever. The only thing preventing progress is you.
Quick Money Makers
1. Sell Your Things:
At this point, there’s nothing more valuable than keeping a roof over your head and food in your family’s tummy. There are many ways to sell your things. I found that the quickest way to get the most money for your stuff is to sell it online. Apps like Poshmark and Ebay are my go-to favorites and super user friendly. But you can also use Craigslist if you live in a big city and Facebook pages where you can locally sell and trade your things. If you have gift cards to random stores you won’t use, sell them on Gift Card Granny.
2. Work On Call and For Half the Price:
Since I was living in a bougie ass apartment and I was a certified trainer, I started getting clients in my complex to train. I offered them prices they couldn’t refuse so I could have cash in my pocket. There are a lot of websites that allow you to work on your own hours with very little experience.
Wag – A dog walking website. If you love pets, check it out!
Rover – Another pet sitting website where they claim you can make $1000 a month. And even better, the pets don’t care if you’re wearing make up. They probably wouldn’t care if you brought your kid too (holla if you’re a single mom!)
Babysit – But now you don’t need your neighbor’s referral. Just sign up for Urban Sitter to get referrals. I suggest making your prices unbeatable and your service impeccable so that you get as many jobs as you can get right away.
Time Investing Money Makers
3. Start a Blog:
Does anyone remember when I started my blog? I wrote this post <— link and it was awful. Not in the writing but in the execution of it. Eventually I’ll go back and optimize it for search engines. But the point is that I started. Had I started when I started, I wouldn’t be where I am now with my blogging. It took me almost 3 years to get good at it so definitely a time investment.
4. Take What You Know and Turn It Into a Little Business:
Once my quick fixes were no longer making enough money to pay the bills, I went back to the drawing board. I had connections with many brands from my modeling days so I got to thinking. If I could request sample sizes of their products and package them into one box, I could sell it for top dollar. So that’s what I did. Maybe you are skilled in English and can proofread for other people.
